Product FAQ's
1) Can melamine edge banding be painted over?
Yes, melamine can be painted over if the surfaces are primed correctly and you use the correct paint; made specifically for melamine surfaces, as well as using the correct sealant such as polyurethane.
2) Can melamine edge banding be applied without an iron?
If you do not have an iron or are worried about the heat affecting the colour of the banding it is possible to use a heat gun instead, however, be careful as the heat gun may burn the epoxy. It is also possible to use a hair dryer on a high heat setting to activate the glue.
3) How water resistant is the melamine edge banding?
Our melamine edge banding is recommended for indoor use. However, if you would like to apply it in a kitchen, bathroom, or outdoors, it is possible by sealing the edge banding after application; this prevents water from entering and damaging the banding.
4) How flexible is the melamine edge banding? (can it be applied over curves?)
Our melamine edge banding is suitable for gentle curved edges.
5) What surfaces can the melamine edge banding be applied to?
The melamine edge banding can be applied to any surface besides metal and glass surfaces. Just be sure to prepare your surface by sanding and cleaning it before application.
6) Why are the small melamine edge banding rolls sized at 7.5 meters?
7.5m length will cover the linear edge of a standard MDF board (8' x 4' / 2440 x 1220mm)
